This DS3 approach would work with instant healing items, but to me it looks like FROM realized how boring some of the bosses are and just artifically ramped up the difficulty this way. WTF? Smough & Ornstein worked because the boss room was appopriately large, and the columns provided cover. Just look at Oceiros! A tiny room with a giant hyper-agressive 360 spammer, no cover, no distance. With infinite aggression and silly boss arenas, no such thing is given in DS3. If you look at DS1 or DS2, even though Estus was slower, you could always keep the boss away or take cover to heal. I really think FROM had Bloodborne instant healing in mind when they designed the bosses. Likewise, if you sip next to the boss, you usually get hit by one of the oh so great 360 80+ true combo flailing moves that almost every boss and minor enemy spams ad nauseum. Which wouldn't be a huge deal if not every boss would be constantly glued to your butt! You just can't create a gap to savely sip, and if you do, while you're drinking, you can watch the boss sprint like Forrest Gump from Lordran to Lothric to land a guaranteed final blow on you while you're standing there like an idiot. On the highest difficulty, when I get hit by a boss, I lose almost three quarters of my HP bar, so I need to chuck at least three Estus. It is just way too slow, especially after you actually healed, your character is prohibited from rolling for a ridiculously long time. It doesn't even belong in PvP, but that's a different topic. I think the way Estus works in this game is just the worst it has ever been.
